Home Care Payments...
The Senate Finance Committee met to discuss ways to pay for a fix to physician payment rates in 2008 and 2009, according to press reports. The heart of the meeting was to talk about the $30 billion in cuts needed to avert the doc pay cut and make other Medicare changes, and home care once again landed on the chopping block to have many home services radically reduced or have their funding cut all together.
Medical Billing PHI
Patient history, or PHI is an aspect of medical billing that has a myth attached. Contrary to popular belief, it is safe practice to allow any permanent office member to take the review of systems and the family social history...
Is it Time to Outsource Your Medical Billing?
If you're getting claims denied or kicked back - the answer is yes. If your staff has gotten sloppy in their compilation of your medical billing claims and your office is so busy that no one has time to follow up on medical billing claims; it is costing your practice in the form of real dollars...
Complex Closures on Excision Claims
When closures become complicated, it is possible to have a two code claim. If the ED physician removes a lesion, he or she will also need to close the site prior to releasing the patient to go home. If the closure is a simple repair, then the work is combined into the lesion excision code. If the repair is more complicated then that though, then you can report the closure separately...

Medical Billing and Revenue Codes
Not all medical billing is generated from physician's services. Sometimes services are rendered to patients and the medical billing created from those procedures need to be submitted to the various insurance carriers, but they also need three things: a price, a procedure code, and a revenue code.
Revenue codes indicate to the type of service that you are billing for; revenue codes are 3-digit codes, and those revenue codes must match up with specific procedure codes to designate what services were rendered.

Is your medical billing being done correctly? There is a good chance that this answer is no! We have found with our new medical billing clients that 80% of all of those physician's who currently outsource have a medical billing revenue that can and has been increased by going the extra mile when dealing with their medical billing. It's usually a matter of not auditing, or not spending the time needed to maximize the reimbursement from medical billing prior to submitting.
OMG will maximize your revenue by implementing a customized medical billing plan that utilizes our expertise but always has your bottom line in mind.

Is medical billing an enormous industry or what? When you consider the medical
billing claims that every physician has to have filed, it's no wonder that everyone
and their brother wants to get into the industry. My only concern is that alot
of new medical billing providers may not be adequately trained which will be
reflected in revenue and will ultimately hurt the physician. All providers needing
a medical billing service should extensively ask questions to assess the medical
billing capabilities of the firm they are looking into or it will be a long hard
road ahead.
